I-40
In February 2005, my friend Dave packed up and left California to be with his fiancee in North Carolina. I took advantage of a cheap one-way flight and rode along. These are the pictures.
In the first set, what I'm calling the "narrative" set, I was trying to tell the story, allegorically at least, of my friend's journey. (Some might call this the pretentious set; so be it.) The second set is made up the inevitable touristy shots that emerge when 2 guys who have known one another for way too long spend 3000 miles on one stretch of road (US Interstate 40) seeing the country. Both sets are good. Enjoy.
Narrative
Then we come to the farmlands, and the undeveloped areas / And I have learned how these things work together / I see the parkway that passes through them all /
And I have learned how to look at these things

Touristy
Thanks to the interstate highway system, it is now possible to travel from coast to coast without seeing anything.
